Past Life Regression

Speaking before his regression he said, “I suppose, one of the most interesting things will be to see who I was in a previous life and to see if it has any relevance at all to what I am doing at the moment”. He went on to say, “I have an irrational fear of choking. So, who knows, that would be a mind blower if it turned out I choked to death in a previous life”.

When regressed, he sees himself dressed in chainmail in 1315 with the name Richard Florin in France. He is that a castle called Roussillon and he “fights for the Count”. He also talks about Madeline, a Lady in Waiting, who he is fond of. But they are not allowed to be together.

Later he describes fighting against the English on horseback in a muddy place. He says he has been away from the castle and Madeline for three months. Then he talks about the last day of his life, when he had suffered a neck wound in battle. He was unseated from his horse by an English pike man and injured his neck. After, he lies there unable to breathe or to move. On reflection, he feels bitter when he thinks about Madeline and that he won’t see her again.

Investigation

When Jules looked into the experience he was able to uncover some interesting details. Shaun’s name is not uncommon in France at the time. And he is also able to find a castle Roussillon in southern of France in the 14^th century. James I of Aragon had gained control of the Balearic Isles (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, and Formentera.) from the Moors (Muslim invaders). He then joined these islands with Roussillon to create the Kingdom of Majorca, with Perpignan as its capital.

Also, while England and France were not at war in the time described, it was not uncommon for knights to act as mercenaries and fight for other nobleman and causes. The French allied themselves with the Scottish in the Wars of Scottish Independence against the English that took place around this time. So, he may have died in Scotland. When looking at his fatal wounding in battle, the weapon that unseated him was likely a halberd and this was commonly used by English pike men.

Talking about the shows reconstruction of the life he said, “That’s quite spooky, the way that they have re-enacted it was quite err, especially the look between them of Madeline and Richard was exactly what I envisaged”. He went on to said, “I remember seeing a castle, very much like that and exactly that sort of chainmail as well. Cause as I looked down the chainmail was on my feet and legs”.

Reflection

After the past life regression he reflected on how the knight had died and how this might have caused his fear of choking and his slightly claustrophobic.

In addition to the life as a French knight, Shaun also experienced the rather sad and uninteresting life of a Peter Edmonds from Hull in the 1930s. His parents had died in a car crash and he had worked in a canning factory and lived alone until his death from Tuberculous (TB) in a hospital. This life is in stark contrast to Shaun’s current life.

Finally when asked about reincarnation Shaun says, “I did believe in that before I was regressed and I believe in it even stronger now”.
