Past Life Regression
Denise Welch
Introduction
In 2005, Denise took part in the UK ITV series ‘Have I Been Here Before?’ hosted by Phillip Schofield. In this series celebrities have a past life regression session with Hypnotherapist Andrea Foulkes. Their past life experiences are then investigated by Jules Hudson, a historian and archaeologist, to see if these accounts can be verified.
Jacqueline Denise Welch is an English Actress and television personality. She has been in several soap operas including Coronation Street, Waterloo Road and Hollyoaks. Denise also appears regularly on the ITV chat show Loose Women.
Past Life Regression
Speaking before her session she said, “I’ve got no particular ambitions to go back to any… I suppose Tudor / Stuart era would be a very interesting era”. She went on to say, “I would like to be cured of my tendency towards clinical depression. Because much as my life is, in the main, very happy and very content, when those demons arise it’s very painful”.
When the regression session started Denise sees a farm called Teign where she lives with her father in 1821. She is clearly distress and crying when she says she is 20 and called Jean Harder. Her mother died when she was 11, she was very sick.
She moved on to the next significant event and she is calmer and not crying. She is dressed in sports clothes and footwear. But then she feels pains in her legs and she sees that she is caught under a tractor, the driver, Jim, didn’t know she was there. She had been playing in the field with her racket and ball. Lastly, as Jean reflects on her life as her soul leaves her body she thinks it was a nice life with a happy family.
Speaking immediately afterwards she said, “I don’t want to use the word weird to many times, but it was… I have never experienced anything like that before”. She also said, “What I am relieved about and one of my concerns had been is that I wouldn’t feel normal when I came out. That I would kind of feel strange or unsettled or trapped in a world I didn’t want to be in particularly. And I don’t. The memories are vivid but I feel like Denise, I feel normal”.
Investigation
When Jules looked into the account he was initially sceptical about the tractor and tennis racket in the 1820s. Tennis as we know it today didn’t evolve until the 1870s. Tennis then was played indoors and largely be the aristocracy. What we know now as Real Tennis, Court Tennis or Royal Tennis. Also tractors didn’t become common place until after the 1850s. However, he was able to find a record of a Teign farm in Devon being sold from 1826. One theory he had was that the year might have been 1921.
Reflections
Speaking to Phillip after the past life regression, Denise did confess that she has always had a deep rooted fear of paralysis. He also commented on her seeming to be upset for much of the session and that the experience seemed traumatic. She said, “It was very upsetting. And watching it back is quite emotional because although… It’s difficult to explain to people who haven’t experienced it. The fact that you are, all the time, I knew I was Jean Harder as far as I was concerned but I was still aware that I was in a room with crew of eight or ten people”.
She went on to said, “Well the whole things been positive in that I have found it totally fascinating, you know just as an experiment”. Finally when asked if she feels she has been here before she said, “Yes. Yes, I do. I believe in it now and I was very sceptical at first. And I do believe I have been here before and I want to go again and be regressed privately”.
